El Capitan hasn't had much luck against West Hills recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vaqueros will be playing at home against the Wolf Pack at 4:00 p.m. El Capitan's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so West Hills' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
El Capitan couldn't beat Granite Hills on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the sixth inning. The Vaqueros fell 14-11 to the Eagles. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vaqueros, who until this game were averaging 3.84 runs allowed.
Cassidy Sterling and Addison Higuera did some serious damage despite the final result: Sterling went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Higuera went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was Sterling's first of the season. Sofia Simone was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, West Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Santana on Thursday and fell 9-8.
Katy Spargo and Maddie Aylesbury stepped up to the plate in a big way. Spargo went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Aylesbury went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Zayac, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
West Hills' loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for El Capitan, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
El Capitan couldn't quite get it done against West Hills in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 3-0. Can the Vaqueros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
