The Clear Creek Golddiggers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 56-12 loss at the hands of West Grand. Clear Creek has struggled against West Grand recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Clear Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Indi Crawford and Aerah Fulton. Crawford scored eight points along with five rebounds, while Fulton scored four points along with 13 rebounds. Crawford scored a full 66.7% of Clear Creek's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Clear Creek struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Grand racked up 11 assists.
West Grand's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Martinson, who scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Martinson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luci Bruchez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Clear Creek bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for West Grand, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Clear Creek will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Park at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. West Grand will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hayden at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
