It was a good run, but The Glades Day Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Archbishop McCarthy 31-0. While losing is never fun, Glades Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while Archbishop McCarthy is ranked 190th).
Archbishop McCarthy found their leader in underclassman Robert Kerns, who threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Ja'Kobi Williams, who picked up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Glades Day's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-0.
Glades Day will challenge Oasis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they will be playing at home against Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dr. Joaquin Garcia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
