Jacksonville is on a five-game streak of home wins, while C.B. Aycock is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Jacksonville Cardinals will take on the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jacksonville can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Northside - Jacksonville on the road to the tune of 52-14. Given Jacksonville's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Northside - Jacksonville is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Demon June had a dynamite game for Jacksonville, rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also picking up 39 receiving yards. June is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rahiem Rainey, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, C.B. Aycock was able to grind out a solid victory over Southern Wayne on Friday, taking the game 29-22.
Ricky Elliott was his usual excellent self, rushing for 232 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Elliott was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
Jacksonville's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for C.B. Aycock, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Jacksonville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 221.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like C.B. Aycock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 220 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
