The Brevard Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Brevard took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over North Henderson. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Leah Cabe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Anders, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brevard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game two weeks ago. They had just enough and edged out East Henderson 11-10. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Leyton Grasty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Macie Cabe was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Payton Johnson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Brevard's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Smoky Mountain, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-9.
Everything went Brevard's way against Smoky Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Brevard made off with a 17-11 victory. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
