Desert Star gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Kingman Academy Tigers 42-12.
Desert Star was led to victory by Jaykob Williams and Gavin Canning. Williams rushed for 157 yards and one score on only 13 carries, while Canning rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Canning also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making four total tackles.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Desert Star's defense and their eight sacks. Kingman Academy's QB won't forget Connor Lowe anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times.
Coming up, Desert Star will welcome Camp Verde at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Kingman Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Kingman at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
