III Section IV recap October 29, 2013
Mingus took down Coconino 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Micah Nevarez threw for 127 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 84 yards during the win.
Flagstaff made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,649 from 7,153. The improvement was the result of a 27-7 victory over Kingman last week.
Nevarez was a passing and rushing force as the Marauders defeated the Panthers. Nevarez's favorite target this week was Tanner Caron, who caught 2 passes for 41 yards.
Dawson Rickets and Kyler White gave Mohave a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Rickets threw for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns, while White ran for 141 yards. Rickets also contributed to the rushing game with 42 yards on the ground.
Leading III Section IV in both passing and receiving yards, the Eagles' Kyle Wilson and Dylan Mathews have proven to be a lethal combination. Wilson has thrown for 1,718 yards this season, while Mathews has 19 catches for 612 yards. Prescott's Kaine Bayze leads the league in rushing yards with 1,299.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mingus takes on the Badgers. At the moment, Bob Young's team is in fourth, while Prescott is in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Marauders take on Cody Collett's team. Mingus has allowed 168 points this season, while the Badgers have given up 126. The Marauders allowed 7 points last week as they bested Coconino.
