J.H. Rose is 0-10 against D.H. Conley since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Rampants will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (J.H. Rose 2.8, D.H. Conley 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
J.H. Rose had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but New Bern put an end to it on Tuesday. The Rampants fell just short of the Bears by a score of 3-2.
Michelle Jenkins was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Jenkins was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Jenkins wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Santana Sneed, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask D.H. Conley). They never let Jacksonville get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Like J.H. Rose, D.H. Conley also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendall Howard. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Howard has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, D.H. Conley let Ava Gaddis and Taylor Ulrich run wild. Gaddis went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Ulrich got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Gaddis has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Booth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
D.H. Conley's victory bumped their record up to 19-1. As for J.H. Rose, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.
J.H. Rose couldn't quite finish off D.H. Conley when the teams last played on April 14th and fell 2-0. Will the Rampants have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
