The Beach Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Long County. While losing is never fun, Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Long County is ranked 118th).
When it comes to explaining why Beach lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chandler Reid. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Reid hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Newton, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Beach has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Long County, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.
Beach will play host again and welcome Savannah Country Day, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Long County, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Long County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
