Milpitas (Calif.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring eight in the fourth quarter to seal a 23-0 victory over
Santa Clara (Calif.).
The Trojans were up 15-0 at the half after taking the lead on a field goal by
Jesus Gonzalez in the first quarter.
The loss snapped the Bruins' 5-game winning streak.
Milpitas' standout player in the win was
Vita Vea. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
MHS had given up an average of 17.2 points prior to the contest. The zero points that Santa Clara ended with were well below its average of 35.4 coming into the game.
The loss comes after Santa Clara defeated Saratoga 28-21 last week. With the win the Trojans extended their winning streak to three games.
In a De Anza game next week Santa Clara (5-1) takes on Homestead, and Milpitas (5-1) will go up against Wilcox also in a De Anza game.
