Baseball Recap: Delta Has No Trouble Against Basalt

Delta won the last time they faced Basalt and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Panthers blew past the Longhorns 13-2. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Delta gave Gage Lehrman the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Lehrman a new career-high.

Delta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Delta has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Basalt, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Delta beat the Longhorns by a score of 8-6 later that day.
