The Valley View Eagles pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Elsinore 65-61. While losing is never fun, Valley View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while Elsinore is ranked 167th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charles Knight, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Talbert, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Valley View has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Elsinore, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Valley View will be playing at home against Heritage at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Elsinore's road trip will continue as they head out to face Paloma Valley at 6:15 p.m. on December 12th.
