Valley View has gone a perfect 5-0 against Dallas recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dallas' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Valley View hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Cougars never let Scranton Prep get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Tuesday.
Taylor Cawley made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Emily Moyles was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Palickar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dallas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Berwick on Tuesday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Mountaineers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Not much got past NINA BARROUK, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Berwick off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on CAROLYN COMITZ, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. SYDNEY HAYDU was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Dallas has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Valley View, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Valley View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Dallas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Valley View took their win against Dallas in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
