Cumberland Valley is a perfect 4-0 against Mechanicsburg since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Cumberland Valley will host Mechanicsburg at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Cumberland Valley's victory against Northern York wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Cumberland Valley won by a run and slipped past Northern York 4-3.

Curtis Shinn looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Alex Crosby was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Caden Lloyd, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg posted their closest win since May 2, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Twin Valley. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Dane Mark was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Mark was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Gino Coleman looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Drake Dawson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Cumberland Valley pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average this season. As for Mechanicsburg, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cumberland Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mechanicsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cumberland Valley skirted past Mechanicsburg 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will Cumberland Valley repeat their success, or does Mechanicsburg has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
