Baseball Game Preview: Baker Gators vs. Paxton Bobcats

The Baker Gators will square off against the Paxton Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Baker's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Pensacola Christian Academy as they made off with an 8-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Elijah Lindros made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Baker let Dawson Mitchem and Justice Baldwin run wild. Mitchem went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Baldwin went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Baldwin has become a key player for Baker: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Rand Stokes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Baker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Paxton played against Pensacola on Friday and lost via forfeit.

Paxton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Baker, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.

Everything went Baker's way against Paxton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Baker made off with a 16-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
