The Hilmar Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. Their tough 62-37 loss to Ripon Christian might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Hilmar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1132nd, while the Knights are ranked 291st).
Despite the loss, Hilmar saw an underclassman step up: Xavier Silveira scored 13 points.
Hilmar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. As for Ripon Christian, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-6.
Hilmar will head out on the road to challenge the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Livingston is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Yellowjackets a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Ripon Christian will take on the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Erick Jimenez and Jake Vander Veen.
