After flying high against the Oakmont Vikings last Friday, The Nevada Union Miners came back down to earth. Nevada Union had to suffer through a rough 37-6 loss at the hands of Ponderosa. Having soared to a lofty 45 points in the game before, Nevada Union couldn't push the score so high this time.
Nevada Union's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Bodey Eelkema and Rhyder Eelkema. Eelkema rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Eelkema rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Eelkema was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Jake Barefield got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Nevada Union's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 6-4. As for Ponderosa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.
Nevada Union will head out on the road to face off against Kimball at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ponderosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
