The Bethany Community Wolves will face off against the Rockingham County Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Bethany Community proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Walkertown, sneaking past 11-10.
Audrey Waddell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rockingham County entered their tilt with Ben L. Smith on Tuesday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They didn't even let the Golden Eagles on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ava Grace Pruitt made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pruitt was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Rockingham County pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Bethany Community, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bethany Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Rockingham County struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
