The Gunter Tigers came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Bonham 50-36. Given Gunter's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Warriors are ranked 755th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bonham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jagger Lindsey, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayden Ross, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Gunter has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. As for Bonham, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-15.
Gunter will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Pottsboro is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Bonham, they will take on the Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Ridge has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 2.
