Kelsey Bennett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Northwood got a massive performance out of Alaya Cornett, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two triples, and three runs. What's more, Cornett posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Micheala Bolden was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
The victory snapped Northwood's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-10 record. As for Rapides, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.
Coming up, Northwood is taking a road trip to take on Glenmora at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Rapides, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Martinville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
