The Orestimba Warriors will square off against the Stagg Delta Kings at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Orestimba will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Last Thursday, Orestimba got the win against Escalon by a conclusive 14-8. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lexi Alves was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Avila, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Orestimba kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Stagg posted their closest victory since March 1st on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Tokay 8-7.
Aerie Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachael Symoungkhoune, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ava Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Orestimba is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Stagg, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orestimba hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Stagg struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
