Coastal HomeSchool is 2-8 against Augusta E since March of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hurricanes will square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Coastal HomeSchool is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Coastal HomeSchool took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bridges Prep 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted since April 5th.

Jace Poppell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. He has become a key player for Coastal HomeSchool: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-15 otherwise.
Poppell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Troy DeVoe, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases DeVoe has posted since back in March. J.W. Castongia was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Coastal HomeSchool was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Augusta E had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They walked away with a 13-10 win over the Panthers. 13 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Jaiden Jacobsen, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nathanael Reese, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coastal HomeSchool now has a winning record of 16-15. As for Augusta E, their record is now 13-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coastal HomeSchool has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Augusta E struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Coastal HomeSchool's way against Augusta E in their previous matchup back in March, as Coastal HomeSchool made off with a 14-4 win. Will the Hurricanes repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
