Basic waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Union Titans 11-1. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Basic got a great performance from Johnny Villarreal as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Andruw Giles was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Kelley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Basic's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Basic will take on Green Valley at 3:30 p.m. on April 7. As for Union, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake Washington at 1:00 p.m. on April 11.
