GILBERT, Ariz. - After four lead changes,
Gilbert Christian (Gilbert, Ariz.) took the lead for good when
Bailey Anderson threw a touchdown to
Saile Daimwood with 5:00 to go in the first quarter and held on to upset Mesa Prep (Mesa, Ariz.) 92-50 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Anderson to Daimwood in the first quarter, the Knights led 52-48 at the half.
Gilbert Christian grew its lead to eight points entering the fourth quarter. GC scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Anderson to Daimwood.
Anderson was one of the big reasons the Gilbert school got the victory, as the junior threw 10 touchdowns.
Gilbert Christian's most effective player was Anderson. He threw 10 touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
The loss comes after Mesa Prep defeated Gila Bend 52-6 last week. The loss broke Mesa Prep's two-game winning streak.
In a VI Section V (8 Man) game next week Gilbert Christian (8-0) takes on Gila Bend, and Mesa Prep (3-4) will go up against San Pasqual Valley also in a VI Section V (8 Man) game.
