AAA District 12 recap October 8, 2013
Overton extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 12 this week by beating Glencliff, 35-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Cane Ridge was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fourth in the league. The Ravens beat Hunters Lane 37-3 earlier in the week.
McGavock's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dustin McAbee threw for 97 and 1 touchdown and Kendall Johnson had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Johnson contributed 69 yards. Antwain Goodner helped McGavock's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 17 yards.
The Raiders' dynamic duo of McAbee and Johnson proved tough for Hillwood to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Goodner helped McGavock's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 17 yards.
Tyrek White was a key player and the best on defense this week as McGavock topped the Hilltoppers. He grabbed 2 sacks.
Hillsboro's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Burros feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Michael Hughes has thrown for 1,091 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Jay King has 14 catches for 296 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Jay Gore's team takes on the Warriors. The Raiders are currently in second, while Hunters Lane is in fifth.
Micheal Murray's team fell to Cane Ridge 37-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brian Walker was a bright spot for the Warriors, as he ran for 13 yards in the defeat.
