Wayne extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 2-5. They lost 15-0 to the Konawa Tigers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.
As for Konawa, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
For Konawa's part, Tyler Whitley made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Whitley posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Konawa is undefeated when Whitley posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Konawa got a massive performance out of Hayden Moore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Moore has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bennett Henson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coming up, Wayne will square off against New Lima at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Konawa, they will face off against Varnum at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Whippets have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
