The Harlandale Indians won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 77-52 defeat at the hands of Southwest. While losing is never fun, Harlandale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while Southwest is ranked 97th).
When it comes to explaining why Harlandale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonathan Regalado. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Roger Dominguez, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Southwest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tremayne Martin out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Martin hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Travis Hune, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Harlandale's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Southwest, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.
Harlandale will be playing at home against McCollum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest, they will head out on the road to square off against Southwest Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Legacy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Southwest likes a good challenge.
