Commerce took their contest against Oklahoma Union on Friday by a conclusive 37-6 score. The lopsided score is just par for the course this season for Commerce, who can brag about five blowout wins.
The match started off well for Commerce, whose offense put up 19 first-half points. Oklahoma Union countered with 6 points, leaving the score at 19-6 going into the half. Commerce put the match away in the third quarter with 11 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Senior Chris Ibarra was the offensive standout of the match for Commerce, as he rushed for 301 yards and 4 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Ibarra's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past four games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse sophomore Kolby Dean, who racked up ten tackles.
Next week Commerce take on Rejoice Christian at 7:00 PM. Rejoice Christian have averaged 64.5 points over the course of their past six games, so Commerce might be in for a challenge. As for Oklahoma Union, they will face off against Afton. Afton are limping into the game on a seven-game losing streak.
