Basketball Game Preview: Aldine Mustangs vs. Dekaney Wildcats

Aldine hasn't had much luck against Dekaney recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Aldine Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Dekaney Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Aldine's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.

Aldine will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Spring, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Aldine came out on top against Spring by a score of 78-67 on Friday. The Mustangs pushed the score to 70-46 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Jameson Kegler was nothing short of spectacular: he went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most boards he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Green, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Dekaney challenged Nimitz on Friday. Dekaney took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nimitz. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Aldine is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Dekaney, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-13.

Things could have been worse for Aldine, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-49 loss to Dekaney when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Aldine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
