Faith Christian had to suffer through a rough 73-40 loss at the hands of Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. While losing is never fun, Faith Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1220th, while Western Sierra Collegiate Academy is ranked 516th).
Faith Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Max Bryan, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Cedric Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists.
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Vovc, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was John Harb, who scored 15 points.
Faith Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Faith Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sacramento Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Faith Christian is facing Sacramento Country Day at the right time seeing as Sacramento Country Day is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Cristo Rey at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Cristo Rey: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Western Sierra Collegiate Academy has snatched up 13 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
