Despite the loss, Spring Valley still got an impressive performance from Melanie Ortiz, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Mi'yana Stephens was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Spring Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Centennial, their victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
Spring Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 victory vs. Bonanza on the 9th. Centennial will be playing in front of their home fans against Faith Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Faith Lutheran likes a good challenge.
