The Orleans Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Bloomfield Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Orleans will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Brownstown Central, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Braves 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Cambree Cline, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Ralph, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Orleans hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
While Bloomfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Cloverdale 6-5 on Monday.
Bloomfield let Addison Lafree and Bella McIntosh run wild. Lafree went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while McIntosh went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most runs Lafree has posted since back in May of 2024. Lailey Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Orleans pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomfield, their record is now 6-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orleans hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Bloomfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Orleans came out on top in a nail-biter against Bloomfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
