The Hartshorne Miners will head out on the road to face off against the Allen Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hartshorne fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Konawa 30-8.
Hartshorne's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Moody, who threw for 319 yards while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in a rushing score. Kelby Thomason also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Allen was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Savanna 48-12 at home. The victory was just what Allen needed coming off of a 57-18 loss in their prior game.
Allen can attribute much of their success to Bodee Garrett, who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and Brayden Tatum, who picked up 101 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Hartshorne is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Allen, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-3.
Everything went Hartshorne's way against Allen in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Hartshorne made off with a 39-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hartshorne since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
