Division III recap October 8, 2013
Mt. Pleasant was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in Division III. The Kilties beat Moses Brown 16-13 earlier in the week.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, East Greenwich beat Lincoln 15-8. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Carney Crawford was a passing and rushing force as East Greenwich topped the Lions. Crawford's key target this week was Cameron Rocke, who caught 2 passes for 71 yards.
Eric Cosmopulos put up the best numbers in passing as the Quakers lost to Mt. Pleasant. He finished with 13 completions for 123 yards and 1 touchdown. Cosmopulos' favorite target this week was Andrew Howard, who caught 5 passes for 30 yards.
East Greenwich's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Avengers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Andrew Miner has thrown for 675 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Rocke has 15 catches for 257 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Moses Brown and John George's team. Willie Edwards' team comes into the matchup ranked 14th in the state, while the Avengers ranks 17th.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when East Greenwich's Rocke goes up against the Quakers' Sebastian Ferrell.
The Avengers' offense has scored 118 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Moses Brown has allowed only 26 on the year.
Next week's game between East Greenwich and the Quakers will feature a good passing match up as Miner will test his arm against Ferrell's defensive ability.
There should be lots of points scored when Moses Brown and the Avengers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Quakers comes in having scored 100 this season, while East Greenwich has scored 118. Moses Brown scored 13 points last week as it fell to Paul Rao's team.
Narragansett made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,652 from 11,361. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 26-12 victory over Burrillville last week.
