Damari Madry was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Thomas Aquinas). They put the hurt on West Broward with a sharp 15-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Raiders have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Julian Diaz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, St. Thomas Aquinas let Jonathan Lopez and Cole Lasher run wild. Lopez went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Lasher went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Joshua Jennings, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
St. Thomas Aquinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.
McArthur's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their record now sits at 11-4-1.
McArthur was able to grind out a solid win over St. Thomas Aquinas in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for McArthur since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
