Pedro Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Palmer Trinity's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Butler, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI. Karson Cooper also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Ransom Everglades was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Downtown Doral by a score of 9-4.
Juan Velazco was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Velazco was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Grossfeld, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Nicolas Motaki was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Ransom Everglades lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Ransom Everglades' win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Palmer Trinity, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Palmer Trinity has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ransom Everglades struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Palmer Trinity got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Ransom Everglades by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
