The Batavia Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Batavia had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 44-6 win over Geneva at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Batavia had established a 32 point advantage.
Meanwhile, Honeoye Falls-Lima had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton 42-14 at home. With Honeoye Falls-Lima ahead 33-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Honeoye Falls-Lima can attribute much of their success to Andrew Wanzenried, who picked up 96 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Matthew Meacham, who threw for 235 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes.
Batavia's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35 points. As for Honeoye Falls-Lima, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Batavia came up short against Honeoye Falls-Lima in their previous matchup back in September, falling 21-14. Can Batavia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
