On Saturday, Martin County made easy work of Corinth Holders and carried off a 66-41 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Martin County.
Martin County found their leader in underclassman Jordan Matthewson, who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Tayvon Lee was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Corinth Holders' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylon Holder, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds. Holder continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Smith, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Martin County's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Corinth Holders, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martin County will take on Pamlico County at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pamlico County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Corinth Holders, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southern Lee at 7:45 p.m. Southern Lee will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
