Not much got past Tyler Potter, who gave up just four hits to keep Mount Morris off the board. Potter also tossed a walk, which is notable because Caledonia-Mumford is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Jacob Wiley was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Colton Auger also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Oakfield-Alabama duked it out with Perry in a bug-themed battle on Saturday. The Hornets skirted past the Yellowjackets 7-6.
Oakfield-Alabama got a massive performance out of Avery Watterson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Jackson Gilbert was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Caledonia-Mumford's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Oakfield-Alabama, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Caledonia-Mumford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oakfield-Alabama struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Caledonia-Mumford might still be hurting after the 15-4 defeat they got from Oakfield-Alabama when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
