Basketball Recap: Gwen Bennett Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chrisman

It was a proper cat-fight when Westville challenged Chrisman on Tuesday. The Westville Tigers blew past the Chrisman Cardinals 46-25. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Westville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gwen Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards. That's the most rebounds Bennett has posted since back in December of 2024. Jazmyn Bennett was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 10 points and five boards.

Westville was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Chrisman's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Jones, who posted seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adaleyn Miller, who scored seven points and six rebounds.

Westville's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-19. As for Chrisman, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.

Westville will face off against Schlarman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westville is facing Schlarman at the right time seeing as Schlarman is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Chrisman, they will be playing at home against Armstrong at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
