Northview is 8-1 against Clay City since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eels at 12:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Northview and South Vermillion meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Knights came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 10-6.

Maggie Krause made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Chloe Batchelor was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Mackie Pell was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Northview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Clay City waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Thunderbirds. Considering the Eels have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Clay City got a massive performance out of Ellie Stoelting, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Stoelting has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigale Shearer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Clay City pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Northview, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clay City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Northview skirted past Clay City 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
