Softball Recap: Brewer Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Brewer posted their closest win since February 22nd on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Argyle Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Eagles on Thursday, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Brewer got a great performance from Sylver Orebaugh as she tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Avery Welch was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Keira Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Brewer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Brewer pushed their record up to 19-12 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Argyle, their loss dropped their record down to 16-15.

Brewer will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
