Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Central Catholic Vikings, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of North Allegheny by a score of 44-41. Central Catholic's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Central Catholic's lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Faulkner, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Faulkner is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Cole Sullivan also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for North Allegheny, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Allegheny will be playing at home against McDowell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McDowell's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six games.
