Even though the Humboldt Vikings have not done well against the Middleton Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Humboldt sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 victory over Middleton. The win was familiar territory for Humboldt who now have four in a row.
Despite the loss, Middleton still got an impressive performance from Taquinis Mitchell, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Mitchell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tamarcus Smith, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Humboldt pushed their record up to 16-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Middleton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Humboldt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Middleton, they will be playing at home against Bradford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middleton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three contests.
