The Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Canajoharie Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cobleskill-Richmondville's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
While Cobleskill-Richmondville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Schoharie a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Brody Becker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Matt Gunzinger was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Rotman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cobleskill-Richmondville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Canajoharie waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Sir Bills.
Canajoharie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Hyney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Nicholas Barlow was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Cobleskill-Richmondville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Canajoharie, their record now sits at 7-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cobleskill-Richmondville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Canajoharie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cobleskill-Richmondville took their victory against Canajoharie in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
