Palma (Salinas, Calif.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 55-7 win over Everett Alvarez (Salinas, Calif.).
The Chieftains put up 14 points in the opening frame. Palma scored on a touchdown run by
Ryan Scarr and a
Mitch Kidd touchdown pass to
Sean Robison.
PHS was up 36-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Scarr in the first quarter.
The Chieftains expanded their lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. Palma scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Jack Tardieu to
Greg Stefani.
Kidd stood out for PHS in the win. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
Jose Jimenez played well for the Eagles. He ran for one touchdown.
Everett Alvarez's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Jimenez in the fourth quarter.
The Chieftains went into the matchup giving up only 14.2 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-6 win for Palma.
With the win PHS extended its winning streak to four games.
Everett Alvarez (0-8) goes up against Kennedy in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Palma (5-2) locks horns with Salinas in a Monterey Bay - Gabilan game.
