Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ethan Chevres and Aydan Fields Lead Tradition Prep to Victory

Tradition Prep won the last time they faced Somerset College Prep Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Tradition Prep Pirates secured a 73-68 W over the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Spartans are ranked 678th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Tradition Prep to victory were Aydan Fields and Ethan Chevres. Fields dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Chevres dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 11 boards, and ten assists. Those 25 points gave Fields a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Dunphy, who posted 13 points and four blocks.

Tradition Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Somerset College Prep Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lenz Constant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards. Geovanny Martinez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Tradition Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Tradition Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they will challenge Frostproof on Wednesday. Frostproof is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
