The New Braunfels Unicorns will head out on the road to challenge the Leander Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If New Braunfels beats Leander with 11 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Unicorns beat Boerne on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-10. The victory was nothing new for the Unicorns as they're now sitting on three straight.

Isabel Cruz was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Mikayla Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
New Braunfels hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, while Leander put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Bastrop. The Lions were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bears. Considering the Lions have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Madelyn Lee, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Grundei, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Leander has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for New Braunfels, their record now sits at 20-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. New Braunfels hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Leander struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
