Coachella Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Twentynine Palms and snuck past 79-76. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Coachella Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Israel Garcia, who scored 28 points. Mark Alexander Gonzalez Lomeli was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
When it comes to explaining why Twentynine Palms lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ayden O'Gilvie. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Grabow, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Coachella Valley pushed their record up to 7-17 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Twentynine Palms, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.
Coachella Valley will head out on the road to face off against Desert Hot Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
