Baseball Recap: Tombstone Has No Trouble Against Benson

After only two runs in their last contest, Tombstone made sure to put some runs up on the board against Benson on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

DJ Elias made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Elias was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erik Koehler, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Trey Franklin was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Tombstone is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Benson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10-1.

Coming up, Tombstone will venture away from home to challenge Santa Rita at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.14 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Benson, they will host Thatcher at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
